The ISO has announced the publication of the ISO/IEC 29500 (Office Open Xml) standard.  This is great!!! I've been working with this standard for a while and I'm really excited about the opportunities that both, software developer and software consumers companies, have by using this standard for our document automation and document management purposes.  Read the official note from ISO here.  You can also check this post from Eric White and this one from Dough Mahug for more information. 
Eric White from Microsoft DPE has published this interesting post describing the list of cmdlets included in the first version of "Power Tools for Open Xml" (a set of cmdlets for PowerShell to create and modify Open Xml based documents).  I will like to point here to this entry in my blog which extend Eric list including a set of new cmdlets we added to the this tool.  I really invite you to download "Power Tools for Open Xml" and give it a try.  It's free!!! :)

Congratulations to our workmate Antonio Zamora for winning the second place at VMWare Toolkit for Windows Scripting contest.  Antonio submitted a script called "VMWare Infrastructure Power Documenter" which is a reporting tool for VM Infrastructure built on top VMWare Infrastructure Power Shell Tool Kit and Power Tools for Open Xml suite.

Microsoft recently released at Code Plex a new software product called Open Xml Power Tools.  This product is a set of cmdlets written for PowerShell which allows IT Pros and developers to create and modify Open Xml Documents.  As part of the Development Team for this project, Staff DotNet is very happy to announce some initiatives to include Open Xml and Open Xml Power Tools as valuable assets for your current and upcoming software applications.   These initiatives include:
